Customers typically see $150,000–$400,000 in annual electricity savings, depending on steam flow rates, operating pressure, and local electricity rates. We provide a free assessment upfront so you know what to expect before committing to anything.
The average payback period is 3 years or less. After that, the electricity your turbine generates is essentially free, significantly reducing your facility's operating costs year over year.
Most steam systems use Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) to drop steam pressure before it reaches facility process equipment. That pressure drop wastes energy. NLine's® turbine installs in a bypass around your PRV and harvests that pressure drop to generate electricity — functioning just like a valve, but producing power in the process. Your downstream steam delivery is completely unaffected.
The NLine® turbine is ideal for any facility with a steam system operating at elevated pressure, including hospitals, universities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, food and beverage plants, lumber mills, chemical facilities, and district energy providers. If your facility has a PRV, there's a good chance you're a candidate.
Yes. The NLine® turbine is Made in the USA and holds certifications and pre-approvals from multiple bodies, including NYSERDA and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). It is also listed in the DOE's Combined Heat and Power eCatalog.
No. The turbine is fully automated with a simple control interface and requires very little day-to-day attention. Full-service maintenance packages are available if you'd prefer a completely hands-off experience.
NLine Energy® helps commercial and industrial facilities capture energy that's currently being wasted in their steam and water distribution systems and converts it into clean, renewable electricity. We do this through our SteamLine Turbine system and in-conduit hydropower technology — turning infrastructure you already own into a power generation assetor.
Very minimal. The SteamLine Turbine is designed for easy installation or retrofit with negligible downtime. It has the smallest footprint in the industry and can fit into tight mechanical spaces. Our team handles the full project lifecycle.
Steam let-down turbine technology has been in use since the 1800s. NLine’s® SteamLine Turbine is the modern evolution of that proven concept: ultra-efficient, compact, and built for today’s energy demands. With more than two decades of deployments, including some installations approaching a quarter century of continuous operation, our systems continue to perform reliably in the field, with installations operating across hospitals, universities, lumber mills, and other commercial and industrial facilities. Our turbines are built on a long track record of field-proven performance.
Yes. NLine® works with financing partners to help facilities install a SteamLine Turbine with little or no upfront capital outlay. Financing structures can be tailored to your organization's budget and goals, allowing you to start generating savings immediately while preserving capital for other priorities. Contact us to discuss what options may be available for your project.
NLine® offers full-service maintenance packages. Under a full-service agreement, NLine takes responsibility for scheduled maintenance, monitoring, and reporting, minimizing facility staff effort for the turbine’s upkeep. Alternatively, facilities with in-house technical staff can manage routine upkeep themselves, with NLine® available for support. Either way, the SteamLine Turbine's automated controls and simple interface keep day-to-day demands to a minimum.
Yes, the SteamLine Turbine comes with a manufacturer's warranty covering parts and workmanship. Extended warranty and service coverage options are also available as part of our full-service packages. Specific warranty terms are discussed during the project scoping process.
In addition to steam energy recovery, NLine® is the nation's leading developer of small in-conduit hydropower projects. We convert energy wasted in water transmission and distribution systems into renewable electricity, covering the full project lifecycle from feasibility study through commissioning.
NLine® is headquartered in Bend, Oregon, and serves clients both across North America and internationally. We have installations operating around the world and are actively expanding our global footprint, with a particular focus on Europe, as part of our mission to help industrial facilities worldwide decarbonize.
